Ian's background is in Computer Science with a detour into UX and design as part of a career spanning more than two decades. He has worked in agencies and in-house across various software engineering, architecture and strategy roles and currently works as a Software Engineer for Meta. Previously, Ian was VP of Web Architecture for Genesis Global, a low-code financial markets platform, and Chief Digital Technology Architect for PokerStars.
Ian is interested in combining technology with user experience design, focusing on languages, platforms and tools to build products customers interact with directly. His current role focuses on events in the Metaverse, leading teams in building groundbreaking virtual experiences for MR and mobile devices. Ian is also a big fan of reactive, event-driven systems and spent 18 months building a trading data pipeline using Kotlin, Kafka Streams and Kubernetes for PokerStars Sports.
